Avec une vingtaine de nouvelles images à son actif et des textes entièrement réécrits par des scientifiques, le livre La Terre vue du ciel dresse un état de la planète, expliquant les causes et conséquences de la situation, les remèdes possibles liés aux questions relatives à la démographie, à l’urbanisation, à la biodiversité ou aux changements climatiques... 

Fruit d’un patient travail d’enquête entamé en 1990, représentant 3 000 heures de vol en hélicoptère et 85 pays visités, ces photographies doivent leur puissance d’émotion et d’évocation à l’oeil de Yann Arthus-Bertrand et à son souci de témoigner pour les générations futures.

A pictorial record of the astonishing features - natural and man-made - of our planet on the eve of the new millennium. In Yann Arthus-Bertrand's full-page colour photographs, we find fish markets on the beaches of Senegal, beautiful islands in French Polynesia, rice fields in Bali, glaciers in Argentina and the spire of the Chrysler building in New York, among many more. 

The Earth from the Air. Bertrand has travelled to more than 60 countries for this project. The 170 photographs, along with texts written by specialists in their fields, seek to paint a portrait of our planet, with all its contrasts, dangers and transformations, and its outlook for the future.
