The Maldives with over 1100 smaller and larger islands stretch out in
the north-southern direction off the coast of Sri Lanka at a longitude of
800 km. Enclosed by sparkling, white coral beaches, they glitter like
tropical jewels in the Indian Ocean. Under water divers can feast their
eyes on coral gardens with masses of colorful fish. Those who decide to
travel to this fairyland, can choose between 70 different islands open to
tourists and stay in bungalows made of coral stones and covered by palm
leaves. Delicious fish curries and tropical fruits make the local cuisine
a true experience. Sports enthusiasts have a great variety to choose from:
diving, snorkling, surfing, water skiing, parachuting, fishing and sailing.
Malediven
Die Malediven mit ihren über 1100 Inseln und Inselchen erstrecken sich
in nord-südlicher Richtung auf eine Länge von 800 km südwestlich von Sri
Lanka (Ceylon). Eingefaßt von blendend weißen Korallenstränden, funkeln
sie als tropische Juwelen im Indischen Ozean. Unter Wasser entfalten sich
dem Taucher die Korallengärten mit ihrer knallbunten Fischwelt. Wer sich
diesen Traum verwirklicht, logiert auf einer der knapp 70 für den
Tourismus erschlossenen Inseln in einem aus Korallenstein errichteten und
mit Palmblättern gedeckten Bungalow mit Blick auf den Strand. Schmackhafte
Fischcurries und tropische Früchte machen die durchaus schlichte
einheimische Küche dennoch zum Erlebnis. Dem Aktiven bietet sich eine
Vielzahl von Sportmöglichkeiten: neben Tauchen und Schnorcheln, Surfen,
Wasserski, Fallschirmschlepp, Hochseeangeln und Katamaransegeln.
